Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire stole the show at this years Academy Awards. It took home eight Oscars. It received it's Oscars for: Best Motion Picture of the Year,Best Achievement in Directing, Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published,Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Sound, Best Achievement in Editing, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score.
This past weekend I went and saw the movie and it was no surprise as to why this move was such a hit. For those of you who have not seen the movie I won't spoil it. However, the plot of this story was well written. It is about a boy, who is considered a slumdog, wins a million dollars on who wants to be a millionaire.
The way this story is portrayed is one of the things that makes the movie so interesting. It goes through each of Jamal's questions and shows a flashback as to how he came up with the answer he did. The whole time it shows you these flashback you realize Jamal is being tortured because it is assumed he cheated. They say no one, especially a slumdog, should know all those answers.
The music in the movie was excellent. The song Jai Ho was written by A.R. Rahman and Sampooran Singh Gulzar won an Oscar. The movie also had another song O Saya nominated for an Oscar. These songs combined with the other bollywood songs made helped to make the an excellent movie.

  1. I also saw this movie this weekend and used it as the subject for my blog. As you've stated, it did win many awards at the Oscars which made me want to see it even more. In my blog I didn't mention the music, but I agree with your comment that it added more to the movie.
