Over Spring Break I went down to Florida. While I was there I saw the shuttle Discovery get launched into space. It was a very unique experience.
The Discovery shuttle was launched at 7:43 pm on March 15. The goal of this mission was to
deliver the final set of solar array wings and truss element that are needed to complete the station’s electricity-generating system. This is the 28th mission to the Space Station.
The crew of the consists of seven members. There are six men and one woman on this trip. they are Commander Lee Archambault, Pilot Tony Antonelli, and Mission Specialists Joseph Acaba, John Phillips, Steve Swanson, Richard Arnold and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Koichi Wakata.
Space exploration is slowly declining. It is now said that this will be one of the last space shuttles to go off until 2010. After 2010 it is rumored that the U.S. will be taking a ten year break and that we will have to join with the Russians for future space activity.

ReplyDeleteI think that would have been a very exciting experience! I was unaware that space exploration is declining, and I was surprised to hear that.
